Have you checked to see if George FITZPATRICK filed a homestead claim. The
claim application often will give a date of arrival in the area. I went
through the entire 1885 census for Dona Ana County looking for my ancestors,
Henry SUMMERFORD and Isaac RHODES, only to find out later from their
homestead applications that they didn't even arrive in the New Mexico
Territory until the late 1880s.
