Rena Mae Bell died August 23, 2006. She was born on July 16, 1927 to Bob Dickerson and Nancy Rogers. After marrying Monroe Bell on December 1, 1944, they continued to farm in Fairacres, where she had grown up. During this time, she became a charter member of the Fairacres Baptist Church. In March of 1952, the family moved to Mesilla Park, where they still have the family home. With her compassion and kind spirit, always thinking of others before herself, Rena lovingly cared for her family and made many friends along life's way. Wherever she was, whether it be in her bowling league where she was elected President, working in cousin Pete Markle's flower shop, or just being a good neighbor, those with whom she came in contact immediately felt her love and caring. As friends and family learned of her passing, comments made were "sweet lady," "precious," "sweetheart," "beautiful smile," and many other terms of endearment. Rena loved God's world and marveled in His creations. She !
was particularly fond of gardening, growing many beautiful plants and flowers, always knowing the names of each of these wonders.

Rena is survived by her children, Carol of Las Vegas, Nevada, Steve of Roswell, and Richard of Norman, Oklahoma; also grandchildren Michelle Voss of Las Vegas, Lisa Lopez of Paris, France, Micha Speights and Adam Bell of Roswell, and Zachary Bell, stationed in Baghdad, Iraq; eight great grandchildren; sister June Saunders and brother Robert Dickerson, both of Las Cruces, as well as uncle, Emmit Rogers, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, most living in Las Cruces. Services, Monday, August 28th, in the Fairacres Baptist Church, burial in the Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
