I have some Val Verde folks among my CHAVEZ extended family. Val Verde had a (Spanish) Methodist Church in the later 1800s and many local residents of that era were members.

The marriages among those Methodists were often not recorded in civil ledgers or offices (and certainly not in Catholic records). I do have some of those Methodist marriages, not many, in private data at home.

If you provide a bit more about Josefa (parents, approx. birth date, etc.), I may be able to connect.
