Here's the best match I can find for Aslak Simensen Haug on the 1865 census, his mother's name is Thora, so that's a very good indicator, since grandchildren were often named after their grandparents.

Here is the online scanned church record for Sr Aurdal Bruflat parish, (in Etnedal) for the daughter of Aslak Simonsen Houg (Haug) and wife Kari Olsdatter. Tora (Thora) is on line 33.

Born July 26, baptised on Aug. 22, of 1875. The sponsors for the baptism are:

Karen Knudsdatter Hestekind, Mathea Olsdatter "Ditto" which I think means Hestekind again, Kristian Olsen "Ditto" (Hestekind), Dortea Simonsdatter Houg, and Elling Olsen ??Madslangrud??

It indicates that she was born legitimate, so they parents were married at sometime before this. They were young parents.

I think this is Kari Olsdatter Hestekind's family on the census of 1865. It includes names of family members who were listed as sponsors on the daughter Tora/Thora's baptism, including her mother, Karen Knudsdatter Hestekind, and her sister Mathea (Mattea) and brother Kristian.

born Feb. 3, 1877, baptised March 25, 1877, Karen Mattea, legitimate, father is farmer Aslak Simonsen Haug age 22, (I believe he owns the Haug farm) and mother Kari Olsdatter age 25.

Harder to read all of her sponsors names,
But one is Kristian Olsen Hestekind, Dortea Simonsdatter Haug, Maria Olsdatter Hestekind (a different sister, but shown on the 1865 census?) and Mathea Olsdatter Hestekind.

Those digitised parish registers should also be available through the local LDS research center.

you might be able to get some lookups help for Etnedal, if you know the farm name (you do, Hestekind vre, and Haug.) The local church is maybe Bruflat.
You could also try Betty

She has some bygdeboks for that area. Bygdeboker are farm and family history books, and since it is indicated that Aslak Simonsen Haug is the farm owner at Haug (Houg) in Sr Aurdal, he should be listed in the book.

I think that in the 1886 farm tax and owner's name census, Kari Olsdatter Hestekind's brother Kristian Olsen Hestekind, was still owning the farm at Hestekind, although there is a little spelling variation, I think it's the same farm. It's spelled Hestkinn vre, Hestkinn upper, just like on the 1865 census.It is the subfarm # 3 listed below.

In 1950 on the farm tax census, it is still subfarm # 3, there in Etnedal, at the main farm # 135 called Hestkinn sndre (Hestekind) Subfarm 3 is called Hestekind vre.

I think the farm might even still be in the family, because I think the 1950 Syver is the son of Kristian Olsen Hestekind. Here is the family on the 1900 census.
