Subject: [NOR-VESTFOLD] Ship question
Date: Thu, 20 Jun 2002 06:38:07 -0700 (PDT)
Ok, Im posting this to both the lists that I am on.
One because I have no clue on where this ship came out
of.
Im researching one of my great grandfathers Ole Svang
we do not know his wife's name we know he has a
daughter named Lena (Leve).
My question being on one site when I did a
Vivisimo.com and a www.start.no search for him I
came up with a ship lists that he and a wife Birgeth
(birgite) are on. Its call the Sirius Now this ship
list says they sailed in 1866. out of Bergen and
landed in Quebec (which would possibly be correct
cause He did come through Canada)
But when I went and looked at the ship at
www.theshiplist.com/ships/descriptions/Ship's.html it
said that this ship only made 2 crossings from
England and sank on 16th of Jan 1847 Near Ballycotton
Ireland.
My question is. or are. could there been another
ship by the same name? How could he have come over in
1866 almost 20 years after? He's from Gol Holindar
Norway. Is there a ship by that name that came out of
Norway?
I know any of this information Maybe wrong. But which
one is the puzzle.
If anyone can shed any insight or shove me into the
right direction to look, it would be Highly
appreciated. We can not seem to find anything on him.
Thank you
Janet Kruger
