Hi Betsey,

Well, I see that I'm not the only one who is curious as to why there were changes made in the spelling of a family surname! My grandfather, Anton Martinus "Tinus" Anderson's surname was spelled A-N-D-E-R-S-E-N, until after he moved to the U.S. I have not been able to get an answer as to why he did that! Now, all but a couple of cousins (on my mother's side), are gone, and my question goes unanswered! My grandparents lived in South Dakota for awhile, then moved to Washington State. My grandmother's name was Maren Katrine "Catherine" Christiansen (or son?????), who knows? Ha Ha If you find out anything enlightening about this puzzle, would you please let me know?

Thank you,

Loretta
