The Colusa County Historical Society publishes the "Wagon Wheels". In Wagon
Wheels articles coveing people stories about grandparents, or parents,
crossing the great plain to California, they said it took about 120 day, or
4 month. However, cercumstantes could change that. The time of year,
weather, feed for livestock, and the make up of the wagon train. One persons
remarks stated that it could be done in 90 days by fast pack train. Just
horses and pack mules, no wagons.

Many historical societies have publications about local people's and events
of early day history in their areas. And, many of these publications
started in the early 1900. The Colusa Historical Society covers both Colusa
and Tehama Counties and the "Coverd Wagon" is published by the Shasta
Historical Society. These are the two that I know of. There is also a
seperate index to names.

These can be hard to find. Especially the smaller publications. Usually you
can find then in there county librarys. One word of warning, they can be
interesting reading and hard to put down, once you start reading one.
