He was the son of Thomas DAVENPORT of New Bedford Mass
and
Martha Washington WINSLORE DAVENPORT HITLER of Nantucket Mass
(quite a name!)
Came to CA in the early 1850's (this is the father)
Martha came via Panama Canal.
Settled in Nevada City.
