I was sitting around aunt Wanda's table with my Mother (Ramona) my aunts
(Wanda) and (Rebecca) and grandmother (Wanda) when mother started to
complain about the fact that the other three did not go by their first names
(Charlotte,Beulah, and Laura). They aggreed that it was not right and
wondered why they did do that.
I was listening intently to what they were saying when it hit me and I
ask mother "what is your first name."
She answered "Ramona"
I said "Mother isn't your first name Rose.
And grandmother suddenly sat straight up in her chair and pointing a
finger at her she said "THATS RIGHT I NAMED YOU ROSE"
I have found that a lot of women from their time period did go by their
middle name, I think that it was because in most cases the first name was one
of the grandparants or an aunt or close relative and the middle name was a
new name entered into the family.
