Dear Group,
I'm looking for photos of downtown Fall River in Shasta County, CA about 1920
that might show the candy store. On the 1920 census my grandmother, Gertrude
M. WILSON (maiden name WOODIN) was listed as living in Fall River Township and
her occupation was proprietor of a confectionery store. My dad told a great
story about the first time one of her regular customers tried one of her
marshmallows, "Why Gertrude, they're nothin' but air!" Her children were
Roy Daryl HOLABIRD (my dad) age 8, Donald H. HOLABIRD-age 15, and Ralph H.
HOLABIRD-age 19. Ralph was a clerk in grandma's store. I've already posted a
query to Shasta Co. GenWeb. My next try will be Fort Crook Museum in Fall
River Mills. Any other ideas?
Thanks
Gail Woodland
