Will the Sacramento County Recorder's office still let you look at the
death certificates and extract from them without having to pay for a
certified copy? Do they have records before CADI began in 1905? Are
birth records accessible by going there and looking or just by mail?

When requesting a copy of the death certificate, do they charge the fee
if no record is found?

I'm planning a trip to Sacramento soon and maybe need to order some
items in advance up so I don't waste one single precious moment of
research.
