My gggrandfather came to California sometime between 1855-1862, I
think. His children say on the census they were born in California. The
name may have several spellings: Dacey, Dascey, Deasy. Usually
pronounced "Day-cey". His name was John. He may have had a wife-Theresa
Smith Dacey. They probably sailed from New York because that is where she
was born. I would appreciate a look-up in the Ship Passenger lists and I
thank you for this valuable help.
