Sandra...
I don't know how they allocate speaking time for the public, but I would
hope that these committee's are public meetings with some time for public
comment. I agree that your disability would probably have little impact on
the committee members. But if there were any press there, I suspect that in
most cases they are bored to tears & would welcome any chance of a human
interest story. So if you could do it, please attend any future hearings
that affect our hobby (or compulsion!).
I would never suggest that you personally would be playing for sympathy to
obtain any personal preference. But this would be an objective source of
attention to a very real problem. The State & Federal gov'ts have long
worked to obtain equal access, yet legislation such as this would have a
huge negative impact. When I finish converting my bus to a motor home, my
wife & I will be there, with her in her wheel chair.

God Bless +

Phil

I have been watching this with fear [like the rest of us] that these records
may be taken from us, I, in particular, have very few options left to me to
do research on my family tree.,last month I was able to input a known
father's and mothers name [last names] for a dead relative and find several
children(in the Vita Search) I would not have known of otherwise, before I
had a stroke in 1998 I prided myself on doing my own research at the
California state library downtown. Since the stroke I am confined to a
wheelchair and doing this research on a very tight budget is what keeps me
happily occupied even if I only have one good hand left to type with,. there
is little else to occupy me . Now I do not, for one moment, think that this
would have any bearing on a legislator's vote but I do believe if other
seniors were to have the opportunity to use the computer that I have been
given, would do a lot toward making them happier and mentally healthier
human beings.
I want to take this opportunity to thank those of you who are vigilant and
watchful in these matters and for keeping us updated at every turn
