Pat,

You're on the wrong coast. San Jose Library's California Room has a
large amount of documentation on Agnews. http://www.sjlibrary.org/

I found one book, A COMPARATIVE HISTORY OF AGNEWS ST. HOSP. THEN...1888
& NOW...1975, Mcconnell, Maola.
<http://mill1.sjlibrary.org/search/aMcconnell%2C+Maola./amcconnell+maola/-3,-1,0,B/browse>;
There's a 30 page essay that you might be able to get copied: Agnews
Developmental Center : from past to present
<http://mill1.sjlibrary.org/search/Xagnews&searchscope=1&SORT=A/Xagnews&searchscope=1&SORT=A&SUBKEY=agnews/1%2C10%2C10%2CB/frameset&FF=Xagnews&searchscope=1&SORT=A&2%2C2%2C>;
/ by Michelle Johnson. 30 leaves : map ; Call Number(s): REF CAL
362.21 Johnson.

The former Agnews grounds now contain a shopping center as well as
campuses for Sun Microsystems and Cisco.

Hope this helps,
Jim
