Go to www.rootsweb.com and click on the "mailing lists" tab. Under "find
a mailing list" type "Texas" in the keyword field. If the next screen
looks the same (i.e., no results), do it again - type "Texas" in the
keyword field (no quotes). Over 300 come up. There you'll probably want
to look for the county in Texas or other list that best fits your needs.
You can also do this using the advanced screen instead and putting Texas
in the state. Fewer come up, although still over 300. Click on one that
looks promising and go to its page where you can browse the archives to
get a feel of how active the list is and what kinds of things they
cover. This NORCAL list is made up of great researchers and willing,
helpful people, and I hope you'll find the same in Texas.
