No, it is not common courtesy. It was an act of arrogance and
hubris and against long-standing net tradition. Private email is
private email. It is time you learned manners.

You are perfectly welcome to respond to me in private email when I
send you private email. I do not grant you permission to pass my
private email on without my permission. You cannot do as you
wish with my property, which is what private email is. If I speak up
in a public forum, you may publically respond. But this does not
cover private email.

What I said wasn't really that important and I don't care what
people think of me for sending it. Let me just say that I have
refrained from sending some gems of private email from certain
loud listmembers which I think ably demonstrates their illiteracy.
