I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me on the SAYER family of
Norfolk. They may have come from Saham Toney, but I am not 100% sure at
this stage. So far I have James Sayer, born around 1809, who married
Charlotte Mary ? about 1833. They had a large family, the childrens names
are William, MaryAnn, Eliza, Martha, James, John, Robert, Sarah Ann,
George, Frederick and Charles. These names were taken from a copy of the
ticket used by the family to sail to Van Dieman's Land in 1854 aboard the
Whirlwind. James and his sons operated a punting business in Devonport, and
Sayer's Point was named after them. Any assistance on this family would be
greatly appreciated.
