The HARNWELL families have been around in Norfolk for a long time. I have
an unofficial one-name study going on this family. I would appreciate
hearing about any references you might find in your Norfolk studies.
Likewise, I will be glad to share anything I have.

There are two basic groups. My line is the West Walton group, with allied
families MOULES, PUMFREY, CLAYDON, and BULLARD.

The other major group is around Bressingham and Diss, spilling over into
Suffolk. So far, I have been unable to connect the groups, but I am
convinced there is a connection.

Note also that the name frequently appears written as ARNOLD, prior to
about 1800. If you find your Arnold line has come to an end in the
Norfolk-Suffolk border area, try checking the HARNWELL spellings.

This name is _very_ rare. I have found Harnwells in Australia, the States
and Canada, and they all connect back to this Norfolk group. And those
still living in the East Anglia area really are all related. I look
forward to hearing from anyone with an interest in Harnwell.

Best regards,

Susan Harnwell
