My father, Cecil Arthur GIBBS left Great Yarmouth for London in 1907 and
Dr Barnardo's. Perhaps one or both of his parents died or divorced?
When he was 12 yrs old he set sail for Canada on the S.S. Kensington
together with a party of Dr Barnardo's children under the care of a
Mr Arthur Froghy 40, a Mrs Lloyd 40, a Mrs Bayley 40, and also a Miss
Barker 28. The ship set sail on July 7th 1907 and arrived at the Port of
Quebec on the 20th of July. By researching this ship's manifest
(Reel T)491 National Archives, Ottawa, On.) I found my father and listed
with Cecil GIBBS 12 years old 245 Barnardo children some of whom are:

Edward Blake 14yrs (1907)
Fred Nesbitt 17 "
Harold Oldfield 11 "
Walter Salter 11 "
Robert Wright 14 "
