Has anyone heard of Justice Sir Thomas Codd, Mayor of Norwich in the
reign of Bloody Queen Mary? He is described as the "Famous Codd" who was
captured by Keith`s rebelliuos army and rescued by an army under the Earl
of Northumberland before the rebels could hang him. Apparently Rev.
Charles Codd`s mother was a "Howes" and they are registered in the
Domesday book as land owners in the reign of William the first Norman
King of England. The name Lord was anglicized over the centuries to Codd.
They apparently had estates in Suffolk and Norfolk, and at one time had
a place called Morningthorpe Hall. Reverenad Francis Howes was a minor
canon of Norwich Cathedral and his remains lie in the Cathedral Close.
