Replyng to myself, having Initially replied without looking up GREAT MELTON
in the DirectoryOf course MELTON MAGMA = Great Melton, and
the first words of the Directory entry are:

GREAT MELTON is a parish ..... in the South-estern divisionof the county,
Humbleyard hundred, union of Henstead, .....

--- A union is a group of parishes, brought together to create and
administer a Workhouse under the New Poor Law.

and - at the beginning of the Norfolk section of the 3883 Kelly's directory
it lists the Unions - and Henstead Union includes the parishes of MELTON
MAGNA and MELTON PARVA (Little Melton). The complete list is:

Arminghall,Bixley, Bracon Ash, Bramerton, Caister St Edmunds, Colney,
Cringleford, Dunston, East Carlton, Flordon, Framingham Earl, Framingham
Pigot, Hethel, Hethersett, Holverstone, Intwood, Keswick, Ketteringham,
Kirby Bedon, Markshall, Melton Magna, Melton Parva, Mulbarton, Newton -
Flotman, Poringland Great (or East), Poringland Little (or West), Rockland
St Mary, Saxlingham - Nethergate, Saxlingham - Thorpe, Shottesham All
Saints, Shottesham St Mary & St Martin, Stoke Holy Cross, Surlingham,
Swainsthorpe, Swardeston, Trowse or Trowse Newton, Whittlingham, Wreningham.
