Joanne,
I've got quite a list of Townshends but none coming near enough to you
description. You might try looking at the Townshend collections at the U of
Michigan, Clements Library. Find them at www.clements.umich.edu. Search for
Townshend. You may find something in the stacks of correspondence amongst
the various Marquess and Viscount Townshends of the 1700s. They have quite
a collection!
