I have decided to re post my Norfolk surname interest in the hope that someone has recently come across this name.
Peter OONERY/OMEROY was tried in Essex in 1801 and sent to Australia, arriving here on the Earl Cornwallis in 1801. He was known by other alias' (BROWN, BRADCOCK and many forms of HORNERY [eg] HONNERY ONERY HORNEY etc).
The name finally settled into two main branches of HORNERY and HONNERY. They all come from Peter and so all are related.
We know very little about Peter's origins, but there is a strong possibility he came from Norfolk and his surname was HONOREE or HONAREE or some variation of these.
Hope to hear from anyone who has come across this name in their research
Andrew
