Bryant's map of 1826 shows a Toll-bar just south of the fork
where the Aylsham road parts with the Holt road. This used
to be a bit nearer to the city before WWII, when a long stretch
of the Aylsham road was closed to build the airfield.
I think the Toll-cottage would have been fairly near, but to the
north of what is now the Firs pub.
