Subject: (Periodic Posting) The Importance of Subject Lines
Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2002 16:26:02 -0800
Hi all -
I've taken to periodically sending this helpful hint to the mailing
list as a reminder to us all.
=`=`=`=`=`=`=`=`=`=`=`=`=`=`=`=
The effect use of subject lines is very important. If you don't
write a good subject line, your e-mail is likely to be ignored.
Since the point of online genealogy is to make connections,
wouldn't it be a pity if your previously unknown fourth cousin
missed your message because your subject line was vague?
It is the responsibility of the message writer to write a subject
line which is appropriately informational. Good subject lines such as
MANGLEFRITZ Family in Snoring Magna
or
Henry BOTTOMFEEDER - Barnham Broom, 1750
will generate the type of interest that gets results. It is always
appropriate to capitalized surnames in a subject line and in the
body of your e-mail message.
Cheers - Mark
