The Old Testament contains references to three people called Barzillai:
(1) Barzillai the Gileadite, who was a wealthy man and lived to the age of
eighty.
(2) The latter's son-in-law, who took the name out of respect for his
father-in-law.
(3) A grandson of Saul.
The main reference for (1) is in 2 Samuel 19.32-40, but all three seem
distinctly unmemorable! Perhaps Mr & Mrs Bensley wishes for their son had a
long and wealthy future, or perhaps they just liked the alliteration.
