Hello John,
You don't say which census the information is from, but if it is the 1851
Census, then you may be able to research his land from a Tithe Map. These
were made in the late 1840's to map the land owners and tenants for purposes
of commuting the tithes payable.
I have seen the map for Pentney at the Norfolk Record Office. It has a
numbered list of land owners and tenants, plus the rates of tax payable and
then the map is numbered likewise to show where the properties are located.
If there is one in existence for Stoke Ferry, it will be available at the
Record Office.
Even if your information is from the 1881 Census, you may be able to find he
was there in earlier years.
