Hello Sue!
You have just brightened a very grey afternoon for me! Yes! Yes! Yes! My
maiden name was SAYLE and your Emma was my Great Grandfather's sister! I
have a copy of the marriage cert. for Joseph PALING and Emma SAYLE and they
appear in the 1881 census at Raymead, as you say.
Incidentally, a few weeks/months ago I put out the name PALING on the list
in the hopes of finding someone just like you! It is very good to have
found you!
I have been interested in family history for years and have quite a lot of
info about the name SAYLE. BUT for many years have been stuck at a Thomas
SAYLE who married a Sarah OATEY in 1776. What I am hoping to find out is
whether this Thomas can be linked to a Robert SAYLE who was ancestor to the
Robert SAYLE, draper, of Cambridge. If so, "our" family can link to another
interesting tree!
What else do you know about the SAYLE family? And, do you have a photograph
of the Emma who married Joseph PALING?
I look forward to hearing from you and will be pleased to exchange
information and I hope you will be able to help me progress backwards (if
you know what I mean!).
Best wishes and welcome to this list!
