Hello Listers,

I visited the new Norfolk Record Office shortly after it opened today. Like
everything there are still a few things to be ironed out.

A few suggestions .....

take a jumper with you - the air conditioning works very well.

If you do not like noise when you are working the ear plugs are the order of
the day. I suggested that they asked people to talk in whispers, the
accoustics are marvelous and anyone rendering poetry would do very well.

There is a drinks machine dispensing hot drinks - expressochoc by the way is
mocha(coffee & chocolate mix) and not as I thought frothy chocolate.

There will be a snacks machine put in.

People can eat in the staff canteen and get a reasonable meal with sweet and
drink for under a fiver.

For those people not living in England, the Autumn leaves could compete with
New England, all the reds, golds, yellows, browns and greens. It was blowing a
galetoday and brought a lot of them down. The new Record Office is surrounded
by these trees and indeedwas a park before the County Hall was built, so you
can image how pleasant and area it is.

The bus service from the City centre is frequent around the 9 o'clock time
and around the 4 o'clock time but about every half hour in between. You can
catch No 58 or 58A it from Castle Meadow or St. Stephens but check that it is
going into the County Hall
car park as one of them does not but not too sure.

At present there is nothing to show you where to go but if you keep County
Hall to your left in the car park or from the bus stop if you are coming by bus
then it is straight ahead. A sign will be going up.

I hope this is of help.
