Hi Nick
Well one step closer!!
Firstly re Fathers name.I guess it depends on how much info you tell the
priest as to what goes on the certificate.
Witnesses Yes it possibly could be her father. My stepfather signed my
marriage certificate so obviously nothing to stop them
I have had a look around the records this morning. How sure are you he came
from Norfolk?I have traced two Georges about the right age .One was
registered as George Thomas the other as George Herbert so I think you can
discard those. There doesn't appear to be much else in Norfolk that fits on
age.The only thing that makes me think it could be Norfolk is his father is
given as a farmer and he obviously had a farming background given his
occupation
However
I found a registration for a George W E Bell born in Newcastle reg March qtr
1891 10B 85
His father is George 24 b Cumberland little bit unclear but I think its
Cumberland the only other thing it could be is Sunderland Grocer
Mother Hannah 24 b Newcastle
Elizabeth Robson 30 sister in law b Lumley
Martha 18 sister in law
His fathers occupation puts me off this a bit but WHO KNOWS???
Getting the certificate wouldn't help as you have all the info there from
the 1891 census. I am having problems pinning them down on the 1901 but will
keep trying.
Maybe you have a tiny piece of info that could ring some bells???
