You'll find plenty of references to relevant literature in the Norfolk
library catalogue:
http://norlink.norfolk.gov.uk/cgi-bin/norfolk-cat.sh (then click on Norfolk
Studies and enter, say, silk as a keyword - which will lead you to books and
photographs showing that silk was still being dyed in Norwich in the
twentieth century). Click on Picture Norfolk to see actual photographs. Try
other keywords for your other areas of interest. Then use interlibrary loan
(if you're in the UK) to obtain copies of the most relevant-sounding books.
You do not say what period your Erpingham ancestor lived, but Erpingham is a
near neighbour of Aylsham where there is a water mill (sorry, don't know if
it was a silk mill - I'm sure other listers will be able to tell you). (If
you're really keen, you could even buy the mill - it's on the market, I
believe!)
