The records in the PRO at Kew should provide you with exact details of your
family member. This can include full record of service and detail down to
physical details such as height, colour of hair, dates of enlistment,
service record etc. You can find all the information on the PRO at the
GENUKI website. Perhaps you could get someone to do a look up for you given
that au is an awfully long way from Kew Bridge.
