Hi all:
I have an inventory listing the goods of John
NORTHON of Holbeach, Lincoln. His monumental stone in
All Saints church Holbeach has died: 27 April 1751.
The inventory of his "Goods Chattells or Credits" is
notarized 14 May 1752 by John Smith as Proctor for
Bartholomew NORTHON who (according to this inventory)
is one of the Executors of John's Will.
This inventory record was at the PRO and I have a
copy of it now. The inventory is for a total of
7895.12.10 in Goods, etc. and mentions a Will. I have
not found this will listed among those in the
Lincolnshire Archives. My question is:
Where should I look next? John apparently lived
in Holbeach but did at least some of his business in
London as there is among the inventory a listing for
amounts in possession of his "Cashier" in London.
Bartholomew is his only son by his first marriage
but he has several other children by his second wife
including several sons, one of whom may possibly be a
grandparent of mine.
Is it likely that his will received special
attention because he left more than 10 pounds in
goods? HELP! Does anyone reading this have access to
Wills and Admons indexes which might contain a
reference for him?
Thanks, in advance, for any help or suggestions.
Best regards,
BJ NORTHON
