Dear List,

I posted to the list for the first time a couple of weeks back, but have
received no posts by return. I am aware of server problems, but please bear with
me as i am re posting my original, in case it has not circulated to all.

"I am working with Barbee cousins in America, who would love to make contact
with both European and World wide cousins, and perhaps discover the elusive
immigrant ancestors.

It seems from looking at Census records that the Barby/ey spellings are the
most common in England and Wales, and there has been a concentration of Barbys
in Northants and the Midlands area.

The burning questions being, how many different lines are there, and are they
all or some derived from the same family name?

We are interested in every aspect of research, from getting to know modern
day cousins, to the origins of the Barby name and its different spellings,
connecting up our family trees and identifying the different lines, and generally
sharing family knowledge, including the significance to the family of the place
Barby.

There is a great deal already known about Barbee in America, and it would be
good to link up with overseas Barby too, and exchange information.

I am including a website link here for Barbee Crossroads, a source of Barbee
information, and current research. I am looking forward to your responses here,
and some guidance and advice on where to look next,"

Sincerely,

Shirley E Massie Simms
