Good Morning All,
I wonder if anyone can help me out here as I am stuck with my LUCAS people
from Kilsby. They were quite a large family. Thomas & Dorcas LUCAS had the
following children: Ann, Dorcas, Samuel, William, Thomas, Joshua, John and
Abraham. I know that Samuel was baptised in 1707, the rest I have no more
information on nor their order or dates of birth. I know that there is a
church window in Kilsby church dedicated to the memory of William Edward
LUCAS and his son William, this was dedicated in 1928 to the best of my
knowledge.
Some of the LUCAS family also seem to have been involved with contributions
to the chapel in Kilsby or the house connected to it so this would have been
Independent or Congregational I think.
Thomas LUCAS, Joshua LUCAS Snr and Jnr and Samuel Jakeman were Trustees of
the Chapel at Kilsby about 1754. Can anyone tell me where I can get more
information on this Chapel please and the LUCAS members?
Some of the boys were educated by a Reverend Thomas Strange in a school he
ran in Kilsby, this was about 1752. Where can I get more information on the
school ran by the Reverend Strange?
Can anyone tell me if there is a local history society for this area I can
contact please? Or is anyone else researching this LUCAS family?
Any help with this matter would be most welcomed as I seem to have hit the
proverbial brick wall with this branch.
Thank you in anticipation.
