I am researching the LEE family. My father Fred LEE (just Fred no
more), Gf. Herbert both born Bradford Yks. Ggf. Allan LEE b.? My father
lived with his family at 35 Saltwell Street, Bensham,
Gateshead until coming to Australia in the 1920's. When and why they
moved to Co Durham I know not. Amongst family bits and pieces I also
have a WW1 service medal and now a print out,
courtesy C/wealth War Graves Commission, for a Private J. Lee,
Northumberland Fusiliers, died 9th July 1920 aged 29, son of Mrs. M
Witts, 3 Wellbank, Great Usworth, and buried at Usworth Holy Trinity
Churchyard. Gr. ref. West part D. I know my GGrandmother married again
to a Mr WITT/S but cannot put a name to the J. LEE.
Could SKS look in the last census 1891 and see if there are any of the
above listed at the Usworth address?
Many thanks, Glenys Gunther, Melbourne, Australia.
