I sometimes wonder if there were some spelling errors back in the days when census info was hand written. My BRANTON family have often been confused with the BRUNTONS over the years. I remember my Dad, Steve Branton getting the "calling -up" papers of a Steve Brunton during WW II.

I know for a fact that on my mother's side the spelling of their family name Lawrence/Laurence was ofiten interchanged.
My Branton family were all in the Bishopwearmouth area
