I just received birth certificates from the GRO on:
John Charlton b 5 Nov. 1840
Mary Ann Davison b 12 July 1844

Both of these certificates reflect South Shields as the Registration
District, Westoe as the Sub-District in the County of Durham. In the
columns captioned 'When and Where Born' one handwriting shows "Fifth of
November 1840 at Temple Town and the other cert. reflects" Twelfth of
July 1844 at the Square Temple Town".
Could someone tell me what is Temple Town? Is this another political
sub-division?
