I am looking for a book "An Orpan's Saga, Life at the Wild Rice
Children's Home, Twin Valley, MN 1898-1931. by Carl R. Narveson
Has anyone ever heard of it?
The home was a place for orphaned children. The full legal name was
"Wild Rice Lutherske Barnehjem"
The book is referred to in the twin valley community saga book up here
in norman county, minnesota. They had a children's home that was founded
The reason for founding the home was because at that time the
synod had no place to take care of children outside of Stoughton, WI
There were 616 children who were residents there from 1899-1930.
A lot of them were of norwegian descent. There is a list of all of the
children who lived at the home in the book (the tv book), and an excerpt
from the book (an orphan's saga). The home burned down march 18, 1931.
