And if you do, you risk that the person edits your message to fit and post
it on the conference to get support from other readers that the list owner
has done something cruel to him.

It has happened to me on Roots-L and also on other lists later.

I find it better to anonymize a typical message and post it. In earlier
days there was a separate conference for such messages and comments to them
on use (more correct, why misuse Usenet Netnews) on Netnews. I do not know
if it still exist.

It is worth reading. If you understand the irony of why they are posted and
the irony of the answers. (Not everyone has understood it)
