WOW! What a great list! I just joined the list on Thursday. One of the
first messages I got was to Connie from Dennis, and contained instructions
for checking the 1865 census.

As my grandfathers parents were still in Norway in 1865, I decided to try
it. BINGO!! I found they! Now with all the translation messages, I know
that the family lore was indeed correct. But I am a newbie both to the
list, and to Norwegian research. I still need a lot of help!

On the census - 1865 for Lekanger, Borlaug yttre ? - I suspect that
Husholdning means household. If this is correct, then there are
twenty-five persons in this household. There are two persons listed as
Gaardbruger of Selveierm (farm owner). And the first two show Borlaug
indre? under farmname.

Are all of these persons related to my ggrandfather (Anders Petersen)? How
can I tell which are his parents? Would someone care to enlighten me on
how a farm commune is setup?

Sorry for my ignorance, as I said, I am a newbie.

Regards, Eileen
