Lots of things are possible, but this sounds like a bit of a stretch to me.
One of my great great great great grandmothers had two illegitimate children
before she was married, and both of them are quite easy to trace --
appearing frequently among the godparents of their legitimate siblings' and
half siblings' children. They certainly didn't just drift away into another
parish. The fact that Marit Arnesdatter Trøstagermoen's mother appears to
have married and stayed on Trøstagermoen in Ringebu suggests to me, anyway,
that had this Marit been your Marit, she would have appeared as a
Trøstagermoen in her wedding record. (This is far from certain, so don't
give up on this basis alone.)

The good news is that I can't find a record of Mari Christensdatter's
marriage in Ringebu. This could just indicate that the marriage mistakenly
went unrecorded, or it more likely means that she was married elsewhere.
Actually, there's also a bit of a problem with this Mari Christensdatter,
anyway, since her death record implies that she would only have been 15 at
the time of Marit Arnesdatter's birth. So we may need to look for another
Mari Christensdatter, and it may turn out that she ended up in Fåberg.

Since this is the only possible lead you have at the moment, you may want to
do some digging in Ringebu, in the original Fåberg records, and possibly in
other Gudbrandsdal parishes. This is clearly going to be a difficult nut to
crack, but I think that it is far from an impossible one.

Good luck.
