I would like to share the greatest Christmas gift I received 2 years ago. As you all know I am researching my MOLTZAU line. I have a friend from my church who visited Norway and he knew I was working on this family in Hurdal. Unknown to me until he got back, he visited Hurdal and took pictures and copied the Moltzau names from the phone book. I wrote to Sven Moltzau and received an answer back. It turns our Sven is my mother's second cousin. Then that Christmas in the mail I received from them a photo of my great grandmother's (Gulborg Moltzau) parents and siblings taken in about 1877 or 1878. I figured out most of the children by size but we are not positive which is actually Gulborg. But I am so thrilled to have this picture!! They sent a few others of family and the current family when they had a reunion. Its a very large family. The also sent a partial family tree on current generations and a song about Hurdal written by the minister there. It is just so won!
derful to have these treasures.
I have worked with and shared my family tree with the family and with Thor Trapness the historian of Hurdal. It has been exciting and heartwarming to connect with them even though there are so many miles between us.
I think my grandmother and great grandmother would be happy to know we have found family and are in touch. And I have found so many family members here in this country too.
The rewards of family research out weight the struggles and frustrations of doing it by tons.

God Bless you all and I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday season.
