How would I check Catholic
records? There's bound to be many Catholic churches.

It appears to me you have "found" Alwilda's parents (or should I say Ruth
found them?). Do you have a copy of Wilda's death certificate? If not you
should get it as it, too, should name her parents. She died in Los Angeles
11/11/1947.
