Olaf....
No, of course not.... except for the fact that my brother was maybe 4 yrs and my
sister was about 10.... and neither one, of course, spoke Norwegian!
My mom, one time, got a job in a department store, mainly due to the fact that she
**could** speak Norwegian! (I think she was in her late teens at the time) They'd
get some folks that didn't speak very good English, but were fine in Norwegian, and
she could wait on them!
Pretty good reward for speaking a language other than English! huh!!!

Hi Nancy!
Not so hard to understand when you realize that the Norwegian word for
cotton is 'bomull'
Olaf
Bummy (actually Phillip) got his nickname from a neighbor he didn't much
like.
He had hair so blond it was almost white... she ruffled his hair (he hated
that)and
said "Bummel" My sister wanted to know what it meant... Mom said
"cotton-top"....
Bummy was muttering to himself, "Bummel! Bummel! Bummy!" and the name
stuck! he was "Bummy" or just "Bum" till the day he died!
