Hans Kulsrud of Wild Rice died Wednesday, Nov 27th and was buried Saturday.
Deceased was born Feb 12, 1825 hence was nearly 83 years of age. He was born
in Norway and came to this country in 1871 settling in Lansing, Iowa from
which plaace he five years later moved to Fillmore County of this state.
June 9, 1881 he came to Norman County settling in Wild Rice Township a mile
north of Heiberg where he lived to the time of his death. Mr. Kulsrud was
married 57 years and leaves a wife, now nearly 80 years of age, and four
children--Martin and Hans who remain in the old home in Wild Rice, William
now in Dakota and Mrs. Mary Austad of Fillmore County. Mr. Kulsrud always
enjoyed the best of health until about three weeks before his death. He was
a kind neighbor and being one of the old settlers enjoyed a wide
acquaintance and leaves many friends to mourn his departure.
Hans Hanson Kulsrud was born in Gjerdrums Prestegjeld, Norway, on February
12, 1825. He was married in 1850 to Martha Wilhelmsdatter, who was born July
10, 1826, and in 1871 in the Spring left from Norway and came to Allamakee
County, Iowa in the same year. He lived there 5 year, then he moved to
Fillmore County, Minnesota, where he lived til the Spring of 1881 then he
moved to Norman County and bought land in Section 9, Town of Wild Rice. They
have 4 children, of which 2 live with their old grandparents on the Farm.
