My brief account of the death of the Lancastria at Dunkirk 17 Jun 1940
and the great loss of human life involved in its sinking raised not a
flicker of interest from list members. I expected some response at least
from those with connections to the Welch Fusiliers, the Sherwood
Foresters and the RAF as all took heavy casualties. But no not a word.
Contrasting this with the great interest shown in the debate on
"doughboys" and "dumplings" makes one wonder about relativities followed
in family history.
