Dear Stan,
My grandmother's notes indicate that my NUNAN family was in some way related
to the MAHAR family in Australia, and I would very much like to know if you
see any connections.
My greatgreatgrandfather, Thomas NUNAN was transported from Limerick about
1852, born Limerick 1821; wife Mary Catherine ELWOOD born Limerick 1831. My
greatgrandfather Joseph John Nunan born Sydney 1860. Shortly after his
birth, family moved to San Francisco.
Other name in her Australia notes: BRIERLY (attorneys).
Please let me know if any of this sounds familiar, and if you know what the
MAHAR connection to NUNAN is.
I assume you know that there are MAHARs in Ford's Sydney Directory for
1850-51, including a John who was a tailor on George Street South. In
1844-45 John is 57 yrs, tailor on Goulborn street.
Good luck !!
