Thanks to Carol MacLean in Vancouver and Mildred Howard's work in
making the (1838-1841) Census for Cape Breton available, I now have a
record of some of my ancestors who lived in Richmond County at the time
this census was taken.

What I don't know, and am hoping someone can help me with is, where
exactly these places are in Richmond County.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the record for my great-great grandparents;

Urquhard, Donald and Christy, farmer , with 6 members living in
Township of Lennox from James Pringle's thence to

Cape George including the back settlememt in the
County of Richmond. Feb. 11,1838.

Does anyone know where this is? I didn't think the land was divided into
Townships in Cape Breton. Is Cape George the same place as St. George's
Channel. I visited the old Urquhart homestead last June which is between
Roberta (Cross Roads), and The Points on The South Shore of West Bay,
Bras d'or Lake. Were these places in Lennox County in 1838-1841?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is (I believe), the record identifying the family of my great
grandmother Christina Ross, whose mother's name was Euphemia MacLeod;

Ross, Alexander & Euphemia, farmer, with 10 members, living in
Township of Lennox, ( same as above )

I'm at a dead-end with these Urquharts and Ross' and MacLeods, so any
info you can give me would really be appreciated.

Thanks, and
Best regards,
Tom Aitchison,
