Hi....I'm posting this to try and find the history of the Spinney family
of Lower Argyle / Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

I'm new at this and I'm trying to generate a family history of the
Spinney/Greene family. My husband's name is George E Spinney Jr. His
father George Sr. was born in Andover, Massachusetts (USA). My
husband's grandfather, Charles Harvey Spinney (married Maud Verill of
Kennybunkport, Maine (USA)) was born in Lower Argyle, Nova Scotia.

We don't know the Great-grandfather's name, but the Great-Great
grandfather was a ship's captain that was deeded five islands off the
coast of Nova Scotia (Nanny Island in lower Argyle being one of
them)....unfortunately, none of the islands remain in the family.

Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Marcia Spinney

Hi, Listers, George and Marcia Spinney, and ,

Glad to see your posting, because I have nothing on my Spinney ancestors. My
great-grandmother's grandfather, Griffin Weaver, married a Mary Spinney. I
think they were Kings County, Nova Scotia people. Griffin Weaver's parents,
interestingly enough, were Silas Weaver and Susannah Green. It looks to me as
if the Spinneys and the Green(e)s were interwined, in my family, and in yours,
George Spinney.

I did not know that my Spinneys might have origins in Argyle, N. S., in the
southern part of the province. The Spinneys are my mother's ancestors, but my
dad's ancestors, some of them, MacKinnons, Hatfields, Frosts, etc. lived in
and around Argyle N. S. in Yarmouth County. It would be interesting if my
Spinneys came from there also.

Listers and Spinneys: Can you give me a genealogy of the Spinneys?
Hopefully, it might include my Mary Spinney (Mrs. Griffin Weaver). By the
way, I do remember a young man named Spinney who worked on a farm in Kingston,
Nova Scotia, ca. 1944, for the half-brother of my dad's sister's husband,
named Lorimer Woodbury. I wonder if there were other Spinneys in the Kingston
area?

Please reply to me at

Thanks so much in advance,
